This gadget helps you to discover apes in a level. When activated, the gadget takes 3 seconds to find the next ape in the level, on land or in water. Once it locks on the ape, Spike’s Com-Device is used to display what the ape looks like and its characteristics such as name and slogan.

The Catapult is a long-range weapon which stuns apes and destroys enemies on hit. The Catapult attack is executed by pressing the Left Soft Key or the Key #. The Catapult will only be able to hit apes or enemies that are on the same height as Spike.
The Magic Punch is a mid-range weapon that stuns apes and destroys enemies on hit. It attacks in the direction you're facing where it reaches out further than the Stun Club. It is not usable in fast succession, a delay prevents rapid usage.

Hello Spike, how are you?||I’m a little worried about some bad news, I’ve just found out with my updated Helmet-Scanner! I’ve tracked a lot of new helmet activity in some parts of the world!||I know you have defeated Specter and all the apes have been brought back, but now Specter is apparently able to build new helmets in his own factory. I fear he’s looking at a comeback with his new Ape Army! At this moment I can’t detect where the factory is, because I have received conflicting data and results from the Helmet-Scanner about the exact location. I’m trying to fix the problem.||I’m very glad that you are brave enough to stop his apes and finally him again. Before you start your hunt, you should test my new invention, the "Holo-Room". Here, you can train your skills and practice using your main gadget in a familiar environment.
Welcome to my new and nearly finished Holographic-Room. It might still have some problems displaying things but you can at least train your skills and the handling of your main gadget. By the way, the Help description for the gadget you are using can be found in the Pause Menu of your Com-Device. Have Fun.
Well done Spike, you have succeeded your training and caught most of the apes, you are ready for your adventure! On your trip I will communicate with you via your Com-Device. Now, I will beam you into the Jungle, there is a lot of helmet-activity. Good luck Spike, I'm counting on you!
Fabulous work, Spike. You've caught a lot of apes in the Jungle. Now it's time for a new destination. Take some sun lotion with you, Spike. I’ve detected a lot of apes at a very sunny place. Good Luck Spike, and have fun in the sun.
Superb catches, Spike. You look like a reddish brownie now, har haarr! Forgot your sun lotion? After your sunny trip, the Helmet-Scanner found a new place, where a lot of ape helmets are active. Are you ready? Fine, let's beam you there and hope you will find lots of apes at this place. Good luck!
Really great work, Spike. Seen any Indians? I hope you don't have beamlag by now. I’ve detected much more ape activity, in a snowy frosty environment. Put on some warm clothes, it looks really cold there and, by the way, don’t eat the yellow snow, har, haarr. Good Luck, Spike.
Great Spike, you have found a lot of apes in these icy areas. Meanwhile, I’ve got some really surprising news for you. I’ve managed to detect the location of Specter’s Helmet Factory. It is on the moon. But now we have a little problem. I can beam you up there but, unfortunately, I can’t beam you back to earth after your mission, because of a detection range limit of the Time Machine. Hence, I can’t detect your exact position on the moon. If you are brave enough to accept this difficult mission, you will have to find a beam-device or a spaceship on the moon, to get back to earth. For this mission, I will send you a special astro helmet to survive in the rough conditions. I hope you can stop Specter and his helmet factory, but be very careful. I think he's more dangerous than before. Good luck Spike, the earth is in your hands, and now the moon is too.
Congratulations Spike, you defeated Specter and his helmet factory, and you've stopped the danger of his world domination through his apes. I have noticed that you have found Specter's Banana Ship. You've done it, Spike, come back to earth, we are waiting for you!
Well done Spike, you have captured all the required monkeys in this area. You can move on to the next location!
Congratulations, you have caught all Apes in this area!
Oh, Spike! You should be more careful with your life. Now I need to beam you again to the past. Are you helping me pay the next electricity bill?
After a hard fight with his bodyguards, Specter was put to flight. He tried to escape with the assistance of his Teleporter and found himself beamed to the south pole. Spike found the key to Specter’s Banana Ship, started the engines and set course back to earth.
After a journey of 2 hours, he touched down in his homeland near Professor's Lab. Spike, Natsumi, the Professor and all of their friends celebrated his victory with a lot of cacao and cookies. The world was finally save again!
Well done, Spike. You did a splendid job but there's more to come. Are you prepared for the next world? Let's beam you out of here ...
[cutscenes_natsumi]
Well done, Spike. Now you are ready for the next area!
Good work, Spike. You’re a real smart and strong ape hunter!
I'm very impressed, Spike. You've caught a lot of these crazy nutty apes!
Fantastic work, Spike. You’re without a doubt the right one for this mission!
My Respect, Spike. If you continue this way, we will have enough apes to create the planet of the apes somewhere very soon.
Really nice, Spike. Have a break after hours of hunting apes and don't eat too many chocolate bars. A few cookies are enough goodies for you.
Terrific, Spike. You've brought an amazing amount of apes back. I think I can order a bigger ape cage soon.
Congratulations Spike. After your long hunting sessions get enough sleep every day! And remember: don’t drink coffee before you go to bed.
Awesome show, Spike. And don’t forget to charge the batteries of your mobile sometimes, ah no, I mean of your Com-Device.
[hints]
<PRO>My Time Machine is currently set to $L. I'm afraid I can't beam you out of other parts of $W right now. And ..there's certainly something left to do here, right?
<PRO>Hello Spike, here’s the Monkey Radar which will help you discover the apes. When activated, it takes 3 seconds to find the ape closest to your current location. Once it locks on the ape, your Com-Device displays it. Off to big discoveries, Spike! And remember: I put a more detailed description of your gadgets in the Pause Menu.
<PRO>Hello Spike, at this sunny location you have something to move around and catch apes in the water, your Aqua Net. It is automatically used instead of the Monkey Net when you enter the water. Wet fun, Spike! And remember: I put a more detailed description of your gadgets in the Pause Menu.
<PRO>Hello Spike! Did you receive the gadget I just sent you, the legendary Catapult? It is a long-range weapon that stuns apes and destroys enemies on hit. Good hunting, Spike! And remember: I put a more detailed description of your gadgets in the Pause Menu.
<PRO>Now it’s time for the strongest gadget, the Magic Punch. It is a mid-range weapon that reaches out further than other gadgets and stuns apes and destroys enemies when hit. Punchy Success, Spike! And remember: I put a more detailed description of your gadgets in the Pause Menu.
<SPE>I'm watching you Spike. You can't defeat me and my ape army again! I'm at an unreachable place, you cannot find me. Muahahaha!
<SPE>Not bad, Spike, you discovered my location. Now what are you gonna do with your dinky gadgets? You have no chance to stop me. My loyal Gorilla Apes will definitely stop you! It is better you give up before you end as a big crunchy cookie. Muaha, Muahaha, Muahahaha!
<NAT>To reach some apparently unreachable, secret places you need to find their entrance. A door will lead you to the place but it must be unlocked by a key. Remember, the door and key might well be found in another part of the world ...
<NAT>To open and access some secret places you need the matching key. Search unconventional places – this is where you may be able to find it.
<PRO>Hello Spike - good to have you here. Whenever you see the icon that you just hit, your communication device will boot and Natsumi and I will share helpful information with you. Make sure to contact these icons whenever you see them. Let's go and good luck!
<NAT>Hello Spike, you can move with the directional buttons or the keys 2, 4, 6, 8. If you walk towards a low elevation, you automatically jump on it.
<PRO>If you press the Action Button, key "5" or "9", your Monkey Net will be activated. This is your most powerful tool as it will catch the monkeys and beam them back to my Laboratory.
<NAT>Press the Left Softkey or the key "#" to swing your Stun Club, Spike. The Stun Club knocks monkeys out or defeats enemies.
<NAT>You love collecting coins, don’t you? And an Extra Life every 100 coins collected also sounds like a fair price.
<NAT>Spike, your health indicator is represented by the round cookies in the upper left part of the screen. If you’ve almost run out of cookies, watch out!
<NAT>Switch between the gadgets you’re carrying using keys 1 and 3. To use a selected gadget press the left softkey or "#". Do you have no other gadgets other than the Stun Club? Just wait a little and the Professor might send one over ...
<NAT>Did you know that the Stun Club has a very powerful 360° attack? Try to attack with the Stun Club multiple times. If it doesn’t work, you might have to work on your timing ...
<NAT>Some apes can run up trees, and hide themselves in them. Pay attention to rustling leafs and coconuts falling to the ground, an ape might be hiding. To bring the ape back to the ground hit the tree with your Stun Club.
<NAT>Some places you have to swim to. If you are in the water, use the Directional Keys to move.
<PRO>The Aqua Net can be used when you enter the water. Use the Directional Keys to swim around. Press the Action Button, the key "5" or "9" to fire the Aqua Net. Now you'll be able to catch the monkeys in the water. Try it out!
<NAT>Did you notice the rough shores? It will be difficult to get in and out of the water at these places. Only if you move carefully, you can walk on them!
<PRO>Some time ago, I figured out the meaning of the lights on the monkey's heads! Blue: relaxed, Yellow: on alert, Red: excited
<NAT>Once the apes spot you, their helmet lights will turn red. When this happens, the apes will go completely bananas... Watch out!
<NAT>Be careful at high elevations. If you fall down, you will lose a cookie.
<NAT>There are some frozen surfaces at this location. Be careful, you could slide on them after you stop moving.
<PRO>Are you okay Spike? This was a really long range beam to the moon. I hope all your molecules are where they should be. You look good, all right. You will make it, Spike!
<NAT>Your movement is delayed at the moon, because of other gravitation conditions. Be careful where you move. Here are Specter's most able and intelligent apes.
<NAT>Did you see the round cactuses? Don't get too close or they will sting you so better take care!
<PRO>Spike, my scanner shows that Specter just sneaked away through one of his secret backdoors! Now you need to move fast so that you can at least beam his bodyguards down to my lab. Go for it!
<PRO>Whenever you need a rest and want to get out of a level, you can choose "Beam me back" from the Pause Menu. Your request will be sent to me and I will beam you back to my Laboratory. You can then continue your adventure later on, searching for the remaining apes.
