CARD RANKING
Object of the game:^To win the other players chips by strategically betting on the strength of the cards in your hand combined with those on the table.^^Pre-Flop:^Starting from the dealer button (a token that says 'D' on it that is passed around the table after each hand signifying who is the dealer for the next hand), each person is dealt two cards face down - called pocket cards. Betting begins after everyone receives their pocket cards.^^Flop:^The dealer turns over three cards in the middle of the table which are communal cards that each player can use to create the best hand possible. Again players place their bets.^^Turn:^The dealer turns over another card making four communal cards. This fourth card is called 'the turn'. Bets are placed again.^^River:^The dealer turns over the fifth and last communal card. This is called 'the river'. Betting happens for the last time.^^Showdown:^Each player uses his two cards, and the five communal cards to create his/her best hand (5 cards total). A player can use any combination, so it is possible to use one card from his pocket cards and four of the communal cards to create the best hand, it is fine. When all five of the cards in the community make the best hand or two players have the same best hand, then the pot is split.^^Betting:^A player may either 'call' which means equaling the highest previous player, or may raise to force other players to 'call' their bid in order to stay in the game. If they do not want to 'call' a player can fold and will lose all of their bets up to that point and will be out of the hand.^^Blinds:^The two players to the left of the dealer are always committed to putting a predetermined number of chips into the pot before the cards are dealt to ensure there is always something to play for. Big blind is the full total of this amount and small blind, closest to the dealer, is half this amount.^^In this game of Texas Hold 'em, each player begins with 2000 chips. The small blind is always 25 and the big blind is always 50.
