Players play against the house (the dealer). The dealer spins the roulette wheel and handles the bets and payouts. Each player bets with chips, which they exchange for cash at the end of the game.

To play roulette, you place your bet or bets on numbers (any number including the zero or double zero) in the table layout or on the outside. When all the players have placed their bets the dealer starts the spin and launches the ball around the wheel. The ball falls into a slot on the wheel and then the amounts each player has won are worked out. The winners are those bets that are on or around the number that the ball lands on.

To win at roulette the player needs to predict where the ball will land after each spin. There is a large element of luck involved in play, but tactical betting can also increase your chances.
