Bar del Pi
One of the most famous bars in the Barri Gtic, this establishment is midway between two medieval squares opening onto a Gothic church. Typical tapas, canaps, and rolls are available. Most visitors come to drink coffee, beer, or local wines, house-sangrias, and cavas. In summer you can refresh yourself with a tigernut milkshake (called an horchata) or a slushy ice drink.

Cafe Bar Padam
One of the new breed of chic bars in a down-at-the-heel part of town, the clientele and decor here are modern and hip. The only color in the black-and-white rooms comes from fresh flowers and modern paintings. French music is sometimes featured as well as art expositions.

El Born
Facing a rustic-looking square, this former fish store has been cleverly converted. There are a few tables near the front, but a recommended spot is the inner room decorated with rattan furniture and modern paintings. The music might be anything from Louis Armstrong to classic rock 'n' roll.
