Its simple 8bp is for editing gifs & Bmps while 24bp is for ??? png, jpg & jpeg, For some time, you'll get to know how its done..
Even, you can download font and unpack with paintCAD, so you can use it on your images..

if yo want to add a text on your images, You can use any font downloaded in .pcf format..
