He should take the lion in the boat then carry the yam in his hand when he is done sending the lion across then he will come back for the goat

this is quite funny icause i used to solve tis kind of puzzels in my childhood anyways the answer is quite more complex then anyone thinks .
There are two possibilities going on here the yam goat and the lion will not do anything in the presence of The farmer .
So , The solution should be like
first take the goat across the river
second take the yam across the river
and bring back the goat with the farmer on the other side ( so that the goat can't eat the yam )
third put the goat down and bring the lion back to the other side ( because lion dosent eat yam )
fourth come back and take the goat on the other side .
And so all has been crossed the river without losing any.

where ? He said ''Question: how does he cross the river with those 3 things one at a time.'' and you are confused take a pen and paper and draw a river you would understand this .
In this way he has to cross the river 7 times not 4 . Like he goes to the other side and comes back to this side to take back whats left. Sit down and think a bit about it.
